Steve Bylenga

Steve Bylenga co-founded the firm (then “Chase & Bylenga, PLLC”) with Carol Chase in 2010. Steve’s practice focuses on representing debtors and creditors in consumer and commercial matters, including bankruptcy, civil litigation, commercial workouts, corporate restructuring, and adversary proceedings.

Steve thrives on developing innovative strategies with his clients to provide productive results, whether that means aggressively pursuing litigation or creatively structuring a settlement. Steve has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers in the areas of Bankruptcy and Bankruptcy Litigation. He is currently the chairperson of the Bankruptcy Steering Committee for the Federal Bar Association for the Western District of Michigan. He is also a member of the board of directors for the Debtor’s Bar Association of West Michigan; is frequently asked to speak at bankruptcy seminars, and taught bankruptcy as an adjunct professor at Western Michigan University Law School.

Steve attended college at Miami University and earned his law degree from Marquette University. He was raised in Grand Rapids and returned to Grand Rapids to practice after initially working for a law firm in Wisconsin. When he isn’t working, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife and children.
